Let us start with an important statement: achieving a language level is rarely an end in itself. You want to be able to do your job in another language. This is why we work towards a functional language level.
List which competences you need to be able to do in another language: meeting, presenting, giving feedback, telephoning, negotiating and so on.
Then we translate them into the appropriate functional language level. This can also be done per skill. As a sales person, for instance, a functional B1 may be sufficient to give your presentation to a customer. To give a keynote presentation, however, a higher level is required so that you feel sufficiently confident when you deviate from your presentation or when the question time follows!
