Vlaams Opleidingsverlof (VOV).

For private companies in the Flemish region.

The sector where VOV is present: in the private sector in the Flemish region.

Employees are allowed to be absent from work to attend training while their wages continue to be paid. The employer may be reimbursed a lump sum to compensate for the wage cost.  

The employee must notify BLCC (= training provider) if they want to take VOV. 

Note:  
Employees must be employed for at least 50% at the start of the training and they may take training for a maximum of 125 hours per school year.  

Certain training courses entitle them to VOV:  

At least 32 contact hours or teaching periods within a 1- year period.

Several modules by the same training provider may be combined to reach those 32 hours.  

Courses of fewer than 32 hours that appear in the database also entitle you to VOV:

Level B1 or lower

An employee must not have unauthorized absences exceeding 10% of the total class sessions.

The employee is only granted VOV hours for the class hours that they were effectively present.  

An employee must participate in a final assessment if one is provided.  

The training provider is not required to pass on attendances to employee/employer. BLCC submits the necessary data online to the Department of Work and Social Economy (WSE).
